Asset managers have achieved their largest growth since 2012, because of the strong growth in equity markets last year. Alternative markets gained the most.
Accounting for 44% of the publicly traded firms in this study, traditional asset managers achieved revenue growth of 14%. Revenues at 8 alternative asset managers grew by 35%. Due to their success in attracting new assets, alternative asset managers also had higher operating profits than traditional managers.
The study involved 52 publicly traded asset managers, and measures the median revenue and profit of the firm.
