Managing Director
Rana planned to work as a creative in advertising, and it was only because a recruiter strongly advised her to consider recruitment, that she changed paths. She credits that person with seeing something in her that she had not known herself.
She was made responsible for placing directors at the main investment banks in London aged 23. She made her first hire within seven days of taking a job description, by calling the client when she recognised something in a front office analyst she had met, he was hired within 4 days.
She then moved a non-financial services candidate into a front office role, leading the IT development team for a major investment bank, despite being told not to present this candidate (due to their lack of banking experience). When the offer came back, not only had he made the grade, but he was offered £20k above the max. bracket for the role. He stayed at the firm for 12 years. Stories like this appear throughout Rana’s career; unlikely matches that produce market-leading teams.
Once the firm floated on the AIM Exchange, Rana felt that the focus on profit over people was not for her. She believes it is possible to recruit with complete integrity, and that strong recruiters can create win-win matches, growing companies and people quickly if they do it right.
Rana finds difficulty in doing anything less than her best, and being totally honest at all times, both a blessing and a curse, but nonetheless a trait that has won her many loyal relationships over the years. Rana was one of the most prolific executive recruiters in the Luxembourg and UK fund business for over 15 years, hiring an average of six senior mandates per year. Now she is more focused on leading the Funds Talent team on challenging mandates at all levels.
Running a business is only part of the story; she is a deeply passionate people person, who wants to speak the truth about jobs and careers, enabling people to understand their natural talents and true value wherever they are.
A team of great people – who know a lot about the funds industry, and all the possible careers in it – is waiting for your call.
